About Ragina
Ragina Ali joined AAA in 2005, where she serves as the Public and Government Affairs Manager for Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia. She spent twelve years with the Baltimore Police Department, initially as a police officer and ultimately, as the department’s chief spokesperson and Director of Public Affairs.
You may hear Ragina on the radio or spot her on the news, as she represents AAA, locally as the chief spokesperson and lobbyist in the region. She utilizes her nearly 30 years of communications experience to work with community partners, legislators, law enforcement officials and other traffic safety stakeholders to address the issues that impact area residents’ travel needs, while advocating for traffic safety and transportation funding.
Mrs. Ali co-chairs the Maryland Chamber of Commerce’s Transportation Committee. She serves on the board of the Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) and the Baltimore Public Relations Council, where she served as President from 2019-2021. She is a member of Maryland’s Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Workgroup, and was recently appointed by Maryland Governor Wes Moore to serve on the Advisory Committee to the Maryland Commission on Transportation Revenue and Infrastructure Needs.
Ragina has received numerous Mayoral, Senate and Gubernatorial citations and appointments, and served as a vocal voice on Baltimore’s Automated Traffic Violation Enforcement System Task Force, which she was appointed to by Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake in 2012 to review Baltimore City’s automated traffic enforcement systems. As a result of the Task Force’s work, automated enforcement reform measures were implemented by the Maryland General Assembly.
Ragina is a graduate of Towson University and the FBI Citizen’s Police Academy.
Ragina’s favorite part of her job at AAA is working with legislators and other advocates to help pass laws that make our roads safer for all road users. Like her job as a police officer, it gives her great pride to feel like she’s helping to make a difference. Through her work at AAA, she has been instrumental in helping pass laws for teen, distracted and impaired driving laws in Maryland, as well as Slow Down, Move Over laws.
Ragina loves to travel, cook and spend time with friends and family. She and her husband, Moe live in Harford County with their daughter and Belgian Malinois.
